The press conference was delivered by the rector, Dr. Danjuma David Baba also delivered the first ever inaugural lecture of the institution.

Baba also revealed that the cult has become a thing of the past, just as the relationship between it and the host community has grown stronger over the past five years, a feat which he says has had a positive impact on the institution.

“We were able to secure the cooperation of our host community, including traditional leaders, they have remained our strong ally in our efforts to reposition the institution on the path to greatness,” noted the rector.

He revealed that the institution has been able to overcome the problem of land encroachment also with the cooperation of royal institutions and locals.

The Rector who then delivered the first ever inaugural lecture titled “A Sociolinguistic Exploration of Administrative Code and Writing Techniques among Federal Tertiary Institutions in Kogi State” emphasized the need to identify appropriate codes in communication, as misuse of codes can alter its meaning, thus inciting the recipient's anger.

Dr. Baba said: "There are elaborate and restricted codes within the broader category of linguistic codes, adding that the way a social group uses language and the type of discourse it uses are influenced by the formal or informal relationships that developed within."
