FG will create a task force against illegal miners
The federal government has announced its intention to create a task force against illegal miners.
Solid Minerals Development Minister, Dele Alake revealed this on Sunday during the unveiling of the Solid Minerals Transformation Program for International Competitiveness and National Prosperity in Abuja.
He said illegal miners have a 30-day grace period to join artisan societies.
Alake also said the government would set up six mineral processing centers to add value to products and increase revenue generation.
He said, “Additionally, a 30-day grace period has been granted for illegal miners to join artisanal cooperatives. The Agenda will create a mine watch task force, mine policing and a comprehensive review of all mining licenses. It will create six mineral processing centers to focus on value-added products. »
Alake was among 45 ministers President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered two weeks ago to revive the Nigerian economy.
