Foden signs new five-year contract with Man City

Phil Foden has signed a new five-year contract with Manchester City, committing his future between the Premier League champions until June 2027.

The England international reportedly entered negotiations over new terms more than 12 months ago after a change in management at the creator delayed the finalization of his new contract.

However, the Stockport-born playmaker has now reached agreement over his future, having become a key part of Pep Guardiola's squad since his debut in November 2017.

"It's hard to say how happy I am to have signed this contract. It's a dream come true," he told the club's official website.

"I've been a City fan all my life. I've trained here for so many years and even been a ballboy. I love this club so much so knowing I'm going to be a part of it until 2027 is amazing.

"I've improved a lot over the last few years and a lot of that is down to Pep and his team, who guide me every day on the training ground. Working with them gives me the best chance to improve. even more and become the best player possible.

"With the team we have here, I feel like I can keep learning and winning trophies. Those are the two most important things for me."

Foden has won four league titles and five domestic cups with City, and has been named Premier League Young Player of the Season in each of the past two campaigns.

The 22-year-old also started the new season in excellent form, scoring seven goals in 13 appearances in all competitions.

That includes a hat-trick in City's recent 6-3 thrashing of rivals Manchester United, a game where Erling Haaland also got the match ball with a trio of goals of his own.
