Foster advises team to halt Liverpool and Man City dominance as he predicts PL table

Ben Foster has explained why he thinks Chelsea will finish above Liverpool next season, but he still has Man City as champions.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper is currently a free agent after leaving Watford in the summer with Leeds United apparently interested in his services.

During his time away from finding a new club, Foster made his predictions for the new Premier League season.

Predicting the positions of the 'other 14' Premier League clubs and why

Unsurprisingly, he tipped Manchester City to win the Premier League title again with the Citizens bringing in Erling Haaland - but he thinks Raheem Sterling could be a 'big miss'.

Foster said on YouTube channel Cycling GK: “I thought they would win the league last season. get out.

"They've lost a few players - Raheem Sterling will be a big miss I think - but they have enough quality to replace.

"The big signing - Erling Haaland - I just think he could pulverize the Premier League, really. He could score a ton of goals.

"He's going to have an amazing season and take the league by storm. There's no looking past Manchester City this year."

Chelsea appear to be in a bit of a worrying position at the moment with Thomas Tuchel calling on the new owners to strike more deals after losing 4-0 to Arsenal in a pre-season friendly.

But Foster beat them to finish above second-placed Liverpool, he added: "Looking at last season, if you want to sign Romelu Lukaku, you have to play to his strengths and work around him.

"Chelsea aren't really that team and haven't done that. When he came out of the squad he lost his confidence a bit and it's not hard to see why because that's not He's not really a Thomas Tuchel player, but I think he will do well at Inter Milan, as he did before.

"This season, I put Chelsea second."

And, despite Liverpool finishing third in the Premier League this coming season, Foster doesn't see them challenging for the title.

Foster continued: "I thought they might struggle last season after giving it their all there the year before, but they were up there all the way. I'm aiming for third place this season. I think there will be two teams better than them.

"Losing Sadio Mane was a blow and I think they could be in a period of transition. I don't see them up there, challenging for the title, I just can't.

"But they'll do well and maybe finish third. The top three are dissipating, but it will be interesting to see how Darwin Nunez does in his first season."

Kane, Nunez, Haaland, Salah comparison.

Tottenham did a good deal of their business at the start of the summer and Foster believes they will be in the top four again this season.

Foster said: "Harry Kane wanted to leave this time last year, I thought it would upset him and affect his and Tottenham's season. Fair play for him because he came back and scored the goals.

"They've made some exciting signings this season and they've made them early too. When the season starts, I think they'll be locked, loaded and ready to go.

"Son Heung-min will continue where he left off…I'm going for fourth place once again for Spurs.

"I don't think they have the quality to mingle with the big boys at the very top of the table, but they are going to be in the Champions League...
