Four people burned to death as minivan rams into truck in Delta

Four people were, in the early hours of Monday, burned to death in a car accident which occurred at the popular Ekiugbo Junction along the Eas-West Road, Ughelli North Local Government Area of ​​​​Delta State.

Sources said a Toyota Sienna space bus carrying suspected illegally refined diesel lost control and slammed into a parked Dangote truck.

The van reportedly escaped security guards who had set up a roadblock when it lost control and slammed into the parked truck, causing an explosion.

Video footage of the scene obtained from witnesses revealed that some of the victims were burned beyond recognition and others were lying on the ground and covered in leaves.

In the meantime, the portion of the road where the accident occurred, it was collected, has been barricaded to road users.

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Unit Commander Ken Ikechukwu confirmed the tragedy, saying it happened at 6:15 a.m.

Reporting to reporters, he said, "There was this Toyota car coming from Warri towards Ughelli and the Toyota was carrying bunker diesel.

"On the way because of the speeding violation, the driver ran into a parked truck and burst into flames.

"In fact, four people were consumed, burned beyond recognition at the time," he noted.

He repeated that in addition to the impact, the vehicle was carrying illegally refined diesel which caused hell.

He added that the four people who died included the driver of the Toyota Sienna and the occupants of the truck who were inside the truck at the time of the crash.

Ikechukwu further revealed that the Hausa community in the area came and took possession of their corpses.

The FRSC officer, however, advised drivers and commuters to refrain from carrying inflammatory fluid inside their vehicles and avoid speeding.
