FRSC not carrying arms - Ag Corps Marshal

The Federal Road Safety Corps said its personnel have not begun to carry firearms, whether on patrol or in other official duties.

The Acting Corps Marshal, FRSC, Mr. Dauda Biu, said this in a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, on Sunday in Abuja.

Biu said the information became highly relevant following an image of a corps officer who was filmed carrying firearms in a position suggesting he was on official duty .

“The viral report should be ignored in its entirety as it is just an old, recycled image of an overzealous staff who posed with a rifle belonging to staff from a sister agency in the admiration and ignorance in 2018.

“The said personnel had since been disciplined in accordance with the maintenance of Corps discipline.

“Officials do not currently carry arms and we advise members of the public to disregard the image that is being recirculated,” he said.

The FRSC boss further called on the public to refrain from believing such false images as the Corps continues its commitment to making the roads safer for all.
