The Gombe State branch of the Peoples' Democratic Party on Sunday warned former minister of police affairs, Adamu Waziri, alleging he had meddled in party affairs in the state by sponsoring a protest against former state governor Ibrahim Dankwambo.

The party reaffirmed its loyalty to the party's presidential candidate for the upcoming 2023 general election, Atiku Abubakar, and identified itself with Dankwambo's leadership.

According to PDP Gombe State Publicity Secretary Murtala Usman as he reacted to a protest by a group of youths allegedly sponsored by Waziri, who took storming the state party secretariat in protest against Ibrahim Dankwambo, he described it as disturbing.

Usman said, "Today the People's Democratic Party office was stormed by a disgruntled element sponsored by a Yobe State PDP stalwart to blackmail our leader party leader, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo (Talban Gombe) and causing disaffection and chaos within the party in Gombe State.

“The sponsor, who has contested elections in Yobe State several times and failed to win any, is a well-known sold-out candidate and political dealer.

"He should go and concern himself with the political crisis plaguing Yobe State and should stop any undue interference in the political affairs of Gombe State."

While reiterating the chapter's loyalty to the presidential aspiration of Atiku Abubakar, the party noted that Dankwambo's position as leader was unwavering, emphasizing that the party's goal remained to winning the presidential and state gubernatorial elections.

“The party leadership in Gombe State is 100% loyal to the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar (Wazirin Adamawa). We also want to impress upon all our team supporters that we fully believe in the leadership of Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo (Tolban Gombe) as the leader of our party and a strong supporter of the PDP from top to bottom. Our stated commitment is to win the 2023 elections at all levels as a party,” Usman added.
