'Gossip Girl' revives the Blair Waldorf headband and features a 'fashion punch in the face' with nods to the original series costumes for Season 2

HBO Max's "Gossip Girl" returns for its second season on December 1. The show continues to follow the life of the New York Upper East Side team attending the prestigious Constance Billard - St. Jude's School.

Fashion has continued to play a big role in storylines and character lives since the original airing from the series on The CW network from 2007 to 2012, under costume designer Eric Daman, who returned for the reboot.

In the original series, he brought the characters to life with designs from brands like Henri Bendel, Chanel , Valentino and Gucci. It made style stars Blake Lively as Serena Celia van der Woodsen and Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf.

While it incorporates many of these brands into the reboot, the new series was to reflect the Upper East Side youth today and the increased diversity of the cast. For the second season of the series, Daman sought out new designers to help improve the style, plot, and personal character development.

"This season we brought in younger brands for girls, like Marine Serre and LaQuan Smith," Daman said. "We also saw other brands and designers, like Conner Ives, David Koma and Natasha Zinko. I worked quite a bit with Simone Rocha to develop the school shirts because of course the new school girl shirt "Gossip Girl" is by Simone Rocha. For boys, we see brands like Alyx, 73 London and Bode."
