Governor Bello sacks the DG ODD and suspends the president of the Basic Education Council of Niger

Gov. Niger State's Abubakar Bello on Saturday endorsed the immediate termination of the mandate of the Director General of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Abdullahi Arah.

This was revealed in a statement signed by Ahmed Matane, the Secretary of State Government (SSG), in Minna.

"The removal of the Director General is intended to facilitate the accelerated implementation of reforms initiated by the government towards the achievement of the SDGs in the state," Matane said.

Matane claimed that Arah is unable to conduct the affairs of his office as required by the state government, having failed to meet his expectations.

Meanwhile, Bello has also suspended the President of the Universal Basic Education Council of Niger State, Dr. Isah Adamu, due to anomalies in the council's operations.

The suspension was contained in a letter signed by Matane.

"The suspension was necessitated by certain anomalies observed in the board's operations," noted Matane.

The government has directed Adamu to hand over board matters to Permanent Board Member III to allow for a full review of its operations for optimal growth.
