Governor Ortom is wrong to call Atiku an 'agent of Miyetti Allah' – Dele Momodu
Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council Director of Strategic Communications, Dele Momodu, has criticized Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue for calling People's Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar an "agent of Miyetti-Allah".< /p>
Momodu made the claim when reacting to Ortom's comment about Atiku and Miyetti Allah to Benue on a Channels Television show Politics Today on Tuesday.
“To call him an agent of Miyetti-Allah is wrong. He can say anything about Atiku Abubakar, but to call him an agent of Miyetti-Allah, I vehemently disagree,” said declared Momodu.
"If you don't want to support a man...it's very easy to give a dog a bad name, in order to hang him. But it's wrong to denigrate a man who has served his country with merit; who did everything he could for every part of his country.
“But because you are in politics; because you disagree with him; so, you use such heavy words against him. Well, there's always another time.
“I tell you that even Governor Wike, who is supposed to be the most angry of them, because he participated in our (presidential) primaries, he did not use such words against Atiku Abubakar,” he added.
Ortom is one of the PDP governors who disagreed with Atiku, who is of Fulani descent, and the national chairman of the former ruling party, Iyorchia Ayu, over the presidential bid of 2023. Other governors include Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State).
Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, also known as MACBAN, is an advocacy group focused on promoting the welfare of Fulani herders in Nigeria.
The group has been singled out in numerous clashes involving pastoralists and farmers, most recently in Benue where more than 20 people, including a policeman, were reportedly killed by armed herdsmen in an attack on the Gbeji community in the Ukum local government area of the state. .
