Grim Reaper singer Steve Grimmett is dead

English heavy metal singer of the new wave of British heavy metal pioneers, Steve Grimmett, is dead.

The singer died on Monday August 15, 2022 at the age of 62.

He was born on August 19, 1959. He was the lead singer of the group Grim Reaper. His cause of death has not yet been made public.

He began his career during the new wave of British heavy metal. Before becoming known as the lead singer of Grim Reaper, he was a member of the short-lived band Medusa.

After a brief appearance in Onslaught, he went on to found Lionheart and more recently The Steve Grimmett Band and GrimmStine.

Grim Reaper has enjoyed enormous popularity around the world thanks to his three critically acclaimed studio albums, as well as his singles and airplay on MTV. After Grim Reaper, Onslaught had a brief tour with a debut song that hit the UK charts.

The Steve Grimmett Band, a more recent initiative, includes Ian Nash, Chaz Grimaldi and Pete Newdeck supporting Grimmett. As Steve Grimmett's Grim Reaper, this band has continued to perform, with Mark Rumble on drums in the current lineup.

According to the report, the deceased has just returned from the United States where he was promoting his international band, GrimmStine, which includes Dave Johnson on percussion, Steve Stine on guitar, Grimmett on vocals and Hat on bass.

They released their self-titled debut album in 2008. As part of a Garmin commercial that aired during Super Bowl XLI 2007, he directed a music video.

He was sent to a hospital in Ecuador in January 2017 following an infection in his right leg below the knee, which required an amputation. Until his release in February, he remained at the hospital.

He started walking again in April, this time with a metal prosthesis. At Bang Your Head on July 14, Grimmett gave his first theater performance in a wheelchair after surgery.
