Health Journalists Plan Medical Outreach for FCT Journalists

The Association of Nigerian Health Journalists (ANHEJ), in partnership with Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Excellent Leadership for Sustainable Development and Good Governance, has concluded plans to organize medical outreach for journalists in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The outreach, which also took place in conjunction with the Chapel of the Union of Journalists of Nigeria (NUJ) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), was born out of concern for the workload of journalists who put immense strain on their eyes through the use of laptops, iPhones, desktops and other electronic gadgets.

ANHEJ President Hassan Zaggi explains that medical awareness aims to provide journalists who, due to the nature of their work, do not have time to regularly visit the hospital for routine checks, including the condition of their eyes, as this is a timely opportunity for vital checks and eye screening.

Zaggi noted that the medical outreach that will be comprehensive will see partners like Excellent Leadership For Sustainable Development And Good Governance bring in a consortium of health experts who are specialists in different fields.

The outreach is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Radio House, Abuja.

The president therefore advised journalists to take responsibility for their health by always making time for regular routine check-ups.

Awareness raising, he says, is an opportunity that FCT colleagues cannot afford to miss.

Zaggi therefore advised FCT journalists to take advantage of this opportunity and go out en masse to check their vital signs and above all, the condition of their eyes which are the gateway to their body.
