Homeowners, residents and business owners have lamented the increasing threats posed by thugs in various areas of Abule Egba Joint Community Development Association, Abule Egba, in the area Agbado Oke Local Council Development Project in Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro discovered that the thugs, who prowl around the community, attacked and robbed residents and businessmen on their way to work in the morning and returning home in the evening.

A resident of the community, Olajide Falowo, said any movement from 7 p.m. in the community was no longer safe, adding that the thugs were operating at will.

Falowo said, "We are in distress. Traveling from Abule-Egba to Ahmadiya to Epo Island is no longer safe at night. Thugs are now grabbing phones and dispossessing commuters and motorists of their belongings. I can tell you right now that once it's 7pm it's not safe to get out on the main road to get cash. »

Another resident, who spoke to our correspondent while seeking anonymity for security reasons, described a garbage dump around the Ile-Epo bus stop as a hotbed of criminal activities in the region.

He said, "This is another dangerous place where you see fearful-looking men who are usually there. If you stay long, they will attack you and once 'they will have snatched your things, they will jump into the dump and escape."

In addition, residents complained of regular accidents along the Abule Egba-Kola corridor, noting that the accidents were usually caused by motorists driving against the current due to the bad road to Sango-Ota.

A resident, who simply identified himself as Olaniyi, said, "We lost a lot of people to the one-way threat. There is a man in my area whose leg was nearly amputated except for timely intervention. He was knocked down by a commercial bus driver. Another woman was also knocked down on her way out of the church. She died instantly."

CDA President Rotimi Olaide said: "Once we file a complaint with the police, they come for one or two weeks and then relax. We want law enforcement to monitor the activities of enlisted officers in the area. »

Contacted, State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin said, "Thank you for reporting this to me. I will notify Police Commissioner Abiodun Alabi"< /p>
