H.S. Football coach arrested for hitting sidelined player, caught on camera
An Atlanta-area high school football coach was arrested after kicking one of his players in the stomach on the sidelines during a game, and the entire ordeal was caught on video.
>The disgusting act happened during the 1st quarter of the Mays H.S. vs. Douglas County H.S. football game at Henderson Stadium in Georgia on Saturday afternoon.
The Peachtree TV show captured the assistant coach facing his number 24 player before hitting the boy with a right to the gut.
The player – a junior defensive back according to Max Preps – recoiled from the punch and appeared to bend over in pain as the coach continued to scream.
Atlanta Public Schools wasted no time...they told us the coach, who is not a teacher, was taken into custody shortly after the violence.
“Video from the live stream of the match appears to show the non-professional coach physically assaulting a player,” APS said in a statement.
"The adult will be charged with simple assault and battery and will also face administrative costs from the district."
"The safety and well-being of all APS students remains a high priority for the district and all APS employees are held to the highest standards of conduct and professionalism."
