Husbands hit the race track today as the odd annual haul race of women kicked off, with dozens carrying their wives through a 1,200-foot course.

Couples were pictured climbing straw bales and dodging buckets of water as part of the 15th Carry Race UK Women's Day held in Dorking, Surrey.

To participate, members of the transported team - not necessarily women or spouses - had to weigh at least 50 kg or carry a full backpack of objects, according to organizers Trionium.

In today's race, a competitor dressed as a dog was even spotted carrying his pup across the field because they were "married ".

< p class="mol-para-with-font">Those who cross the finish line first are crowned the winners and have the chance to participate in the Women's Carrying World Championships held in Finland in July.
