'I want to make history' - Lewandowski eyes Barcelona legacy after Bayern move

Robert Lewandowski said 'I want to make history' while addressing Barcelona fans in Miami after leaving Bayern Munich.

The Polish international lobbied for a move to Camp Nou throughout the end of the season, with Barca eventually securing the talisman in a deal worth up to £50m euros, including additions.

Lewandowski, who scored the most goals in Europe's top five leagues in all competitions last season (50), has signed a four-year deal with the Blaugrana, with a €500m buyout clause included.

The 33-year-old appeared alongside Barca president Joan Laporta in the United States, where the Blaugrana are on a pre-season tour, and was quick to lay out his ambitions to leave a legacy to the La Liga giants.

"I'm very happy to be here. It took a long time to get here, but I'm finally here," Lewandowski said on Wednesday, a day after watching his new teammates beat Inter Miami 6- 0.

"It's wonderful. Yesterday I saw the team win and I saw that it's a team with a lot of potential and great quality.

"I like to belong to this club with so much history. I'm very happy, it's a club with a lot of titles.

"As a striker, I want to score goals to help the team, that's the best solution. It's a new challenge for me. In football, you always have to be hungry and I am. .

"I always want to score and I always want to win. I want to make history here."

Lewandowski has scored the most goals in each of the last five seasons in the Bundesliga, where he is the competition's second-highest goalscorer in history (312), behind only Bayern legend Gerd Muller (365) .

Xavi hopes Lewandowski can link up with newcomers Raphinha, Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen as Barca look to close the gap to La Liga champions Real Madrid in the upcoming campaign.
