I will support, sponsor people-oriented bills - Raymond Chukwuma, Abia Assembly Aspirant
Aspiring Member of Abia State Assembly, Raymond Chukwuma Agwu has pledged to support and sponsor people-oriented bills if elected in 2023.
Talking about his ambition for the Abia State House of Assembly, the jack-of-all-trades explained why he volunteered to serve the people of the northern constituency of Bende in Abia State in the State House of Assembly.
He said, “I volunteered to serve the people of Bende North Constituency to participate in the African Revolution. It is not enough to write a revolutionary song, you have to shape the songs with the people to achieve real actions, you have to be a living part of Africa and its thought; you must be part of this popular energy which is entirely mobilized for the enfranchisement, progress and happiness of Africa.
"There is no place outside this fight for the artist or the intellectual who does not concern himself and is one with his people in the great battle of Africa and suffering humanity.
"The work of legislation and representation requires not only love, self-sacrifice, selflessness, self-death, clarity of vision and purpose, but the ability to feel the pulse of the people, having been on top of the mountains with the people, or at least being familiar enough with the feelings to be able to put their shoes on and, if not, at least know where and how it hurts.”
Speaking further, he said, "I haven't just been there with people, I've experienced their feelings and struggles. I know exactly where and how it hurts. Growing up has been more than hectic, the pain, the hunger, the schools, the struggle of mom, etc. The pains of my people are in my home and I am an experience for them.
"I am a young entrepreneur. I have been able to visit more than three countries in the world in the course of my activity. During this trip inside and outside the country , I was able to compare and contrast my host states and societies with my own home state.”
He added: "The gap is wide, our challenges are enormous, but they can be overcome with the right person with the right passion and political will in power. It is this passion of change the fate of my people, and which arises from my unity with them, which drives me, and it is on this passion that I will rely for strength and resolution in my choice to represent my people and improve their many ."
Expanding on his mission and vision for his constituency, he said, "My vision is to use my constitutional legislative powers to influence deep concern, focus and action on matters contingent on the job creation and youth empowerment, education and poverty reduction, and economic and political inclusion for the good people of Bende North State constituency.”
"My mission is to lobby, support and sponsor people-oriented bills that will have direct positive effects on people's short- and long-term social and economic lives" , he concluded.
Chukwuma who is the CEO of BEVVY Multimedia, Bevvy Studios, Bevvy Links and Bevvy Exchange Limited is from Amaogudu Amaekpu Item in Bende LGA of Abia State.
