Idris Elba says his daughter didn't have a role in 'Beast,' no nepotism

Idris Elba says his own child auditioned to play his on-screen daughter in his latest movie -- a role she didn't get...even though her old man probably could have been pulling strings .
The actor was recently on "The Breakfast Club" with producer Will Packer, plugging their new movie "Beast"...which just hit theaters. During the convo, IE revealed that her 20-year-old son, Isan, had actually read for a role...one of the two girls featured in the film.
He says she didn't end up having it because the chemistry just wasn't right...and as a result, Isan didn't speak to her father for about three weeks. So, yeah... sour grapes.
In the end, however, Isan went to the Prime Minister and actually posed with Idris - so it seems like it's all water under a bridge now. Yet, however...the fact that Idris didn't just make it happen just because she was his daughter is getting kudos in the film community.

Packer actually expands on this a bit more in the interview, telling the hosts that Idris insisted that Isan go through the normal process that all other actresses go through...and to judge her on merit. Packer says she was close to dropping out -- but in the end, they went with Leah Jeffries and Iyana Halley to play Idris' kids.
Apparently Isan took the news with grace...and Will says Idris' anti-nepotism stance was appreciated by everyone who worked on the film. He's even getting props on Twitter right now.
