The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Lagos State said the thugs did not take away its voter registration machines in Surulere, Lagos State.

DAILY POST reported that on Friday, thugs invaded INEC's Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) center located in ljesha of St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Surulere and took away the machines INEC registration.

Reacting to the development, the Public Relations Officer of INEC in Lagos State, Ms. Adenike Oriowo told NAN that although the exercise was halted due to the power surge, no machinery was was stolen.

“There were problems at the said CVR center, but order was restored and the exercise continued smoothly.

"We moved the registration in this center to another voting unit in the area, and our officials continued the registration.

"People need to be patient. We will register as many people as possible. If people continue to disrupt the process, the ability to register more people before the deadline will be cut off.

“Our commitment is to register as many people as possible and we will try to do so in the limited time,” the INEC spokesperson said.
