The Bauchi State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began distributing sensitive documents to its offices in all 20 LGAs in the state on Wednesday.

The exercise is being prepared ahead of the Saturday, March 18 elections for Governor and National Assembly

The Commission has also assured the residents of the State of timely distributions of all materials and items necessary for the conduct of the elections in the 20 seats of the LGAs where the INEC offices are located ahead of the elections of Saturday.

Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Alh Mohammed B. Nura gave the assurance during distributions of sensitive material at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Bauchi, saying that “today we We are here to distribute the sensitive material in CBN custody to the various 20 LGAs across the state."

He also noted that the Commission last distributed the items on Thursday and that they arrived at local government headquarters the same day, where they had Friday and Saturday mornings to go to the polls.

According to the REC, the main reason for this early start to the materials distribution exercise was to allow enough time to see if there was any shortage in the items in the boxes and for officials to know how they can report to HQ for advance replacement of remaining missing items prior to Saturday's exercise.

He explained that the other time the items were distributed to the INEC office, but this time the Commission decided to do the exercise at the CBN because the quantity of items is not very similar to that of the presidential elections.

Some of the stakeholders including party agents, security guards, as well as election observers during the distribution of the items, expressed satisfaction and confidence with the whole process.< /p>

Our correspondent has learned that items distributed included Form EC 8B(1) and ballots for the gubernatorial and state assembly elections in the state.
