The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and media organizations have expressed their resolve to paint together to ensure the conduct of successful polls in 2023.

The assembly commended the INEC for the smooth running of the gubernatorial elections in Osun and Ekiti States, especially with the use of the new era; the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS).

The successes recorded in both states with the use of BIVAS have restored confidence among the electorate that the popular elections of 2023 could be a great success.

The assembly therefore called on the electoral body to improve its performance in the states, noting the importance of the well-known elections of 2023 for the social life of Nigeria.

He therefore submitted, “That Nigerian reporters and CSOs should include peace journalism/mediation as a means of strengthening Nigerian democracy. That the Nigerian media and CSOs must remember the public interest as recommendations in reporting on war occasions.

“That media companies should create and use reality check hubs in their newsrooms. That election observers/journalists should steer clear of languages ​​that could cause or escalate tensions.

"That journalists should strive to present a truthful audience, same area, same time, and opportunity to all sides of their criticisms.

“That journalists and CSOs must remain apolitical, regardless of stress or incitement from either party.

"That there must be a law that provides sufficient safety and security while ensuring that there is a blanket of existence for journalists and CSO members in carrying out their responsibilities .

“That journalists and CSOs must take security and safety issues seriously. That CSOs and media professionals must take their pressure control seriously. That the electoral law must be translated into the languages local, for smooth information through loads.< /p>

In their separate comments, the National Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, the President of the Oyo and Lagos State Chapters, Comrade Chris Iziguso, Comrade Leye Ajayi and Comrade Demola Babalola confused the need for journalists to respect the ethics of the profession. .
