"To this end, the Police Commissioner's new crime-fighting strategies are yielding positive results and are now reducing the persistent insecurity that has plagued Zamfara State for more than a decade," he said. -it added.

According to the statement, the State Police Command, through its agents, recovered two AK-47 rifles during an encounter with the bandits in some locations in the state.

“Between Friday 11th and Monday 14th November 2022, Police Tactical Officers deployed in some bandit attack prone locations under the Dansadau State Emirate received a distress call regarding the plans of the bandits from attacking communities.

"Officers reacted quickly and moved to the scene to repel the attack, which resulted in a serious firefight between the bandits and the officers.

"Fortunately, the attack was repelled, forcing the thugs to flee into the forest with possible gunshot wounds. Two (2) AK-47 rifles with thirty-five (35) rounds of live ammunition and one bunch of charms belonging to the bandits were recovered from the scene,” he said.

Continuing, the commissioner said officers arrested two people for kidnapping and cattle rustling in parts of the Bukkuyum local government area of ​​the state.

He gave the names of the suspects as Sujora Almade, a 20-year-old man from Bungudu local government area and Bags Mohammed, 40.

"During the week under review, police tactical officers, while on a confidence-building patrol along the Gusau - Funtua road, acted on intelligence information that led to the arrest of the kingpin of a notorious bandit named Sujora Almandawi as one of the bandits terrorizing the villages of Tsafe, Kotorkoshi, Damba and some suburbs of Gusau.

“Additional information revealed that the suspect was involved in several attacks on villages, cattle raids, kidnappings and other related crimes along these roads.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to serial kidnapping and cattle rustling in more than ten (10) communities in Gusau, Tsafe and Bungudu LGAs, where they collected millions of naira from relatives of the victims as ransom.The suspect also confessed to stealing an unknown number of cows.

"In the case of Bage Mohammed, the suspect was arrested by joint police and vigilante while on a confidence building patrol along the Anka - Bukkuyum road.

“The arrest follows an intelligence report received on the suspect and his involvement in the attack on some villages in Bukkuyum and the abduction of 11 people in the village of Dargaji.

"During the investigation, the suspect confessed to several attacks, kidnappings and theft of an unknown number of cows and sheep in parts of Anka, Bukkuyum and Gummi LGAs. The suspect is currently assisting the police with useful information for more arrests and recovery,” he revealed.

Speaking further, the commissioner said that the command crushed an armed robbery syndicate which operates in Abuja, Kaduna and other states.

He gave the names of the suspects like 22-year-old Mohammed Sani, 35-year-old Bello Abdulahi and 28-year-old Magaji Adamu, saying they would be brought before a competent court.
