Institutional Investors Head To Crypto Tipping Point: Apollo Capital

Henrik Andersson, CIO of Apollo Capital, said there will come a time when not investing in crypto will be a "risk of career".

Institutional investors headed for a tipping point on crypto: Apollo Capital Interview

Henrik Andersson, chief investment officer of crypto asset fund manager Apollo Capital, thinks institutions may soon “reverse” their conservative stance towards crypto.

Speaking to Cointelegraph, the Melbourne-based crypto fund manager said that while institutional interest in crypto has been slow to grow, particularly in Australia, many players are biding their time to strike.

Andersson admitted that major institutional investors in Australia, particularly pension funds (or superannuation funds), have yet to get to grips with the digital asset space:

"It's still early days. So yeah, talking to a lot of family offices in Australia and smaller boutique institutions. The super funds in the industry aren't there yet."

“From their point of view, there is still a lot of education going on. So it will still take time, I believe,” he added.

Apollo Capital is a fund manager focused on providing family offices and institutional investors with access to crypto investment opportunities. One of its latest funds launched is the Apollo Capital Frontier Fund, which focuses on non-fungible token (NFT) infrastructure, decentralized finance (DeFi), and multi-chain infrastructure.

Asked what needs to happen for institutional sentiment to change, Andersson thinks it will "shift" when the big players start making more substantial moves in the space.

“Nobody wants to be the first in something like this. Because if you are the first and things go wrong, there is a professional risk. It will backfire at some point to the opposite”, has explained Andersson:

“At some point, when prices are going up, people don't want to miss something. And if others are investing, it will become a business risk not to invest.”
