It is progress that is holding Qatar back. Digital ticket failure results in reversion to handwritten paper passes

November 23 - Qatar's efforts to apply modern techniques and digitize all tickets to facilitate the smooth running of the World Cup organization have taken another hit after handwritten paper tickets had to be distributed to the supporters for the second consecutive day.

Problems with the FIFA mobile app have reportedly caused chaos among fans attending the France v Australia match at Al Wakrah.

The Associated Press has reported that some fans have been asked to show security personnel their emails from FIFA confirming their seat numbers in order to gain access to Al Janoub Stadium before kick-off.

FIFA acknowledged that "alternative solutions (were) provided".

“The FIFA service provider is working to resolve the issue some spectators are facing with the FIFA Ticketing app as soon as possible,” he said.

It was the second day of glitches after hundreds of fans were affected in the Iran-England game on Monday.

Many reported that their tickets suddenly disappeared from their phones and could not be retrieved. The situation had to be resolved in front of a sign saying "Ticket Resolution Point" in the center of Doha.

Marciel Hernandez, a 64-year-old soccer fan from Mexico City, told AP enforcement issues forced him to miss the first 20 minutes of the England-Iran game.

"I've been to six World Cups and never had this kind of problem," he said, adding that two of his tickets hadn't appeared on his mobile app. "These are important games that I could miss. I'm spending all my savings on the World Cup."
