A professor of political economy and entrepreneurship coach, Patrick Utomi, emphasized the collaboration of universities with industries in problem-solving research that can significantly lift Nigeria and its people out of poverty.

He made the comments as a keynote speaker at an event to re-open the Center for Research on Enterprise and Action in Management (CREM), in Lagos, recently.

He said, "Until such collaborative activities are encouraged and practiced between the city and the robe, it will be difficult for the Nigerian economy to make significant progress."

He added that business activities in all fields of business, including government, require adequate research and innovations, supported by technology and in line with global best practices.

Speaking on the theme of the event, "Promoting research, learning and innovation as key drivers of economic growth", Utomi said that every business man and woman should always seek a better way to engage in its operations so that it can satisfy customers and maximize profit.

He added that while they may face one challenge or another along the way, all they need to do is invest in evidence-based research and be more innovative.

He, however, commended CREM for its significant contribution to the acquisition of knowledge, research and the formation of human capital, among others, in the four years since its creation, saying that "the efforts are already yielding positive results".

In his opening remarks earlier, CREM Chairman Dr. Godwin Nwabunka said that Nigeria is a big market with many business opportunities, but only those with an entrepreneurial and creative spirit can provide the products and services capable of satisfying the needs of the population. to maximize profits and improve society.

He said that "good research will generate the right information, data and evidence needed either to start a new business or to grow and grow existing ones, regardless of their size; micro, small, medium or scale in the public and private sectors.”

He said that most of the time, funding is not really the problem with growing the business, but the lack of knowledge and foresight to provide the right products and services that people are happy with.< /p>

In his presentation, the COO of CREM, Mr. Clifford Onyeike, said that the company will continue to contribute to the research and development that society needs as well as the formation of human capital, among others.
