JAN partners with business and academia to equip corps members with management skills

Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN), in collaboration with Lagos Business School and Pan Atlantic University, partnered on Monday, Lagos, Parthian Partners and GB Foods to organize the 2022 week-long edition of its Venture in Management (ViMP) program for selected members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

According to JAN, this year's edition of the ViMP program - which marked the 22nd year of JAN's partnership with the Lagos Business School (LBS) and which takes place at LBS - is designed to prepare and equip 100 members of the NYSC skills that will enable them to thrive in a global economy, while transforming them into conscientious global citizens.

While appreciating Parthian Partners, GB Foods and LBS for sponsoring the program, JAN Executive Director Foluso Gbadamosi said that the ViMP is one of the ways in which they contribute to achieving sustainable development of United Nations (UN). (SDGs), in particular goals 1, 4, 8 and 17.

She added that young people have the potential to transform their communities and bring about lasting solutions that would impact the world around them.

“Our ultimate goal is to prepare NYSC members and recent graduates for the world of business as managers and entrepreneurs,” Gbadamosi said.

Parthian Partners Managing Director Oluseye Olusoga said Parthian has a long-standing commitment to human resources and talent development, particularly for the next generation of national leaders.

“We are delighted to partner with JAN again for this program. We look forward to seeing many young Nigerians benefit from it,” said Olusoga.

GB Foods Country Director Vincent Egbe says developing leaders is central to their philosophy. He added that just like with good ingredients you can make a great dish, with great brands you can make a great deal.

“With great leaders, you can build a great nation,” Egbe said. “Therefore, this exercise is important for us. Allow great leaders to create a great Nigeria and a great Africa. »

Dr. Marvel Ogah, ViMP Academic Director at LBS, said the program aligns with their overall goal of developing responsible and ethical business professionals and demonstrates their commitment to changing the face of business practices in Africa.

To this end, Ogah said, "Lagos Business School will continue to support young people by providing them with several opportunities to network, improve skills and contribute to Nigeria's economic growth within the imperatives of globalization. ."
