Jandor visits car auction victims, promises 'humane' action for traffic offenders

APC condemns visit of Lagos PDP gubernatorial candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate for Governor of Lagos State, Dr. AbdulAzeez Adediran popularly known as Jandor visited the homes of AbdulLateet Kolapo and Dr. 'Osinachi Ndukwe, two of the victims whose vehicles were seized for traffic violations and auctioned off. He assured them and other Lagos residents of hope if elected in 2023.

Lagos State PDP Flag Bearer reiterated that he is not opposed to putting in place traffic laws and regulations or encouraging anyone to drive against traffic , but said he was against any law that deprives people of a livelihood and leaves them and all their dependents helpless and hopeless.

Adediran, accompanied by his running mate, Funke Akindele-Bello, at the residences of Abdul Lateef and Osinachi, promised to review some of the laws on the ground, which he described as punitive.

He also denounced a situation where the markets were announced closed "just because an individual or two committed a sin".

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State yesterday disapproved of Adediran's visit to traffic violators.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), APC Publicity Secretary Mr. Seye Oladejo while reacting to the visit described Adediran as desperate and promoting anarchy and doing politics with human lives.

Meanwhile, a statement signed by Jandor4Governor campaign organization media and communications officer Gbenga Ogunleye said: "We must realize that laws are made for the people and not people for the law. Therefore, all laws must have a human face and seek to correct rather than destroy the very citizens for whom they were made.

"In this case, the penalty for violating the law in question was equivalent to killing an ant with a sledgehammer and would potentially create more problems than it was intended to solve."

"One may wonder why a state government supposed to look after the well-being of the people is so determined to deprive the same people of the means of subsistence when other measures, such as heavy fines, could have served deterrent for potential offenders?

“Their pathetic outburst could be the savage rant of a dying hegemon having realized their game is over and Lagosians are now fed up with the poor governance they have been subjected to for the past 23 years and 'they are now thirsty for the breath of fresh air, which is the dynamic duo Adediran and Olufunke Akindele.
