I'm not behind 'Vote Abiodun, get N20,000' promo - Gov

The Ogun State government has distanced Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration from promoting "N20,000 Dapo Abiodun Campaign Funds" on social media platforms.

The governor's chief press secretary, Kunle Somorin, in a statement on Saturday, denied state government involvement in the promotion.

He also said the campaign was an attempt not just to scam unsuspecting members of the public, but to discredit the governor ahead of next Saturday's ballot.

He said the promo was the work of Abiodun's opponents realizing they couldn't defeat him on the ballot.

The statement also noted that Abiodun "will never be directly or indirectly involved in vote buying or wooing the electorate with any material inducement to obtain their votes".

"Governor Abiodun, rather than getting the votes of the people, embarked on political campaigns to present his scorecard, commissioned flagship projects and solicited votes for all Congressional Candidates of All Progressives as well as for his re-election,” part of the statement read.
