Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports Inks Reach Italian Serie A Soccer League Deal

Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports has signed what has been described as a new "strategic partnership" with the Italian top-level football league Serie A.
The deal, which was announced yesterday via Roc Nation's social accounts, was forged to improve the Italian league reach in North America. The two entities said they would partner to increase awareness of the league in North America by engaging existing and new fans through digital content, marketing activations and events.
Roc Nation and Serie A have had a working partnership since 2019. In 2020 at the height of the covid pandemic , the agency has signed an agreement with top Serie A side AC Milan to host an event aimed at increasing support for key workers. The event was hosted by DJ Khaled and featured performances from artists including Alicia Keys and Kelly Rowland. All proceeds went to charity. The pair then announced a full partnership.
Roc Nation also represents many of Europe's top footballers, including Inter Milan's Romelu Lukaku of Serie A. Lukaku is one of the biggest names in Serie A, and he told the local Italian press earlier this year that the multiple Grammy winner had encouraged him to join Inter.

"We spent time together in New York, and then he pushed me to go back to Inter," said Lukaku. "He is a person who follows football a lot, he always follows Inter. He's a really good guy."
Roc Nation also spoke about issues within Italian football, such as widespread racism against players league blacks. Last season, when Lukaku was the victim of racist monkey chants from opposition fans, Michael Yormark, president of Roc Nation Sports, issued a statement.
"The Italian authorities must seize this opportunity to fight racism rather than punish the victim of racism abuse. I'm sure the football world shares the same sentiment," Yormark said.
Discussing today's agreement, Yormark said: "We are delighted to help Serie A expand its brand across America while helping to develop meaningful business partnerships as well as enhanced brand visibility that will lead to continued growth for one of the best football leagues in the world."
Serie A is historically considered one of the most competitive football leagues in the world, with legacy franchises such as AC and Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli, the former team of Diego Maradona. Paramount+ is the home of Serie A in the United States, with all 380 games of the season broadcast live.
