Jeff Bezos' girlfriend is also rich, she just donated $1 million to this charity

Amazon, Inc. AMZN founder Jeff Bezos is known for his philanthropic efforts and in 2021 he reportedly gave $1 billion in donations to more than one charitable cause.

What happened: Meanwhile, Bezos' girlfriend, Lauren Sánchez, donated $1 million to a nonprofit called "This Is About Humanity," the nonprofit announced this week.

The organization is dedicated to raising awareness and supporting separated and reunited families and children at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Sánchez's contribution would be used to build additional educational spaces for migrant children and support additional projects focused on mental health, food security, among others.

"We are so honored to receive Ms. Sánchez's generous donation to TIAH. As an ongoing support of our border initiatives, Ms. Sánchez truly understands our mission and personifies why we do what we do," said Elsa Marie Collins, co-founder of This is About Humanity.

Why it matters: Sánchez is an Emmy-winning journalist, the founder of "Black Ops Aviation" and the vice president of the "Bezos Earth Fund". She has been supporting TIAH for a long time.

His net worth is estimated to be around $30 million, the Daily Mail reported.

Sánchez is divorced from multimillionaire Patrick Whitesell, who is the president of the Endeavor media agency, owner of the UFC and Miss Universe.

Bezos' philanthropy is said to lag behind his ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, despite having a relatively larger net worth than her.
