Joao Pedro signs new deal with Watford

Joao Pedro has signed a new contract with Watford which will keep him at Vicarage for the next six years, the club have officially confirmed.

With his old contract entering his final 12 months this summer, the 20-year-old striker has reportedly been targeted throughout the transfer window by Everton, who are looking to replace Richarlison, and Newcastle, who need to reinforce his attacking ranks with a young player and eventually signed Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad. Even with the window long closed, it is believed that a number of clubs have been closely monitoring developments with a view to a swoop in the near future.

However, Pedro, who has two goals and two assists in nine league appearances for the Hornets so far, has put the rumors to rest for now by reiterating his commitment to Watford for the foreseeable future. A transfer is still possible, of course, but the price at which it could take place will have increased by tens of millions of pounds.
