Owhorkire was reportedly shot while returning to his home in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, on Wednesday evening.

This comes a month after Owhorkire was allegedly kidnapped and forced to speak out for his support of Atiku.

Earlier in November, Owhorkire was seen in a viral video in a cave-like location decrying support for Atiku under duress.

In said video, he was surrounded by people watching his words, even though he was visibly scared.

State Police Commissioner Okon Effion had ordered an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and promised that the perpetrators would be apprehended.

Reporting the latest incident to our correspondent on Thursday morning, a source said the attackers fired at the tires of Owhorkire's vehicle before firing in his direction through the windshield.

The source, who requested anonymity for fear of being identified, said Owhorkire was in pain and currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility.

According to him, "He is from Aluu. He was driving home last night and was shot dead by unidentified people.

"They shot at the tires of his car, shot directly at his windshield and that's how he got those mouth wounds. His mouth was scattered.

“As I speak to you, he is in severe pain. His mouth is scattered. But he is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.”

During the shooting incident, another viral video that surfaced on the internet showed Owhorkire with tick blood dripping profusely from his injured mouth.

In the video seen by our reporter, Owhorkire's lips appear covered in blood, while his nose and the spot above his upper lip were swollen, as he muttered a few words repeatedly and tried to hold her lips with her hands.

"I'm dying. They shot me now. I'm dying, they shot me," he said in the roughly six-minute video.
