Minor fire at DHQ, back to normal – Spokesperson

Defence Headquarters (DHQ) announced on Monday a minor fire on the second floor of the headquarters building in Abuja.

Director of Defense Information Jimmy Akpor, a major general, said in a statement that the cause of the fire was unknown at this time.

Mr. Akpor said the incident was brought under control through the combined efforts of Army and federal fire personnel and resources.

He said all personnel and civilian personnel were also evacuated without injury or loss of life.

"As a result, normality has returned.

"The investigation to determine the cause of the fire began immediately.

"We thank the Federal Fire Department and the wider public for their continued support and goodwill to the Nigerian Armed Forces," he said.
