Kaduna-Abuja road: IGP deploys officers to protect train passengers

As the Nigeria Rail Corporation is set to commence Kaduna-Abuja rail transport on Monday, Inspector General of Police Usman Baba has ordered the immediate deployment of armed personnel along the Abuja-Kaduna route

The Force's Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement issued on Sunday, noted that security guards would be deployed to guard against any breakdown in public order

DAILY POST recalls that bandits attacked the Kaduna-Abuja train in March 2022, killed several passengers and abducted dozens of passengers.

As a result, rail transport was suspended.

However, the chief executive of NRC said necessary arrangements have been made for train service to resume on Monday.

However, the IGP noted that the Nigerian Police were in regular talks with the Nigerian Railway Corporation and other security agencies in preparation for the start of operations.

He said the deployment covers major railway stations along the route and operational coaches to ensure adequate security for passengers, their property and the entire service to avoid any unforeseen incidents.

The IGP has therefore ensured the general public, especially future passengers, with adequate protection of lives and property, as everyone is on deck to strengthen rail services along the route and other rail lines across the country.
