Kaduna Government Partners with Google to Empower 5,000 Women in Tech Skills

The Kaduna State Government has reached an agreement with Google to train 5,000 women and girls in data science, artificial intelligence and the entrepreneurial application of digital technologies.

According to a statement by the governor's spokesperson on Monday, the initiative, which is part of a broader skills development program supported by Google, aims to equip 20,000 more women and young people across Nigeria with 21st century skills, positioning them for opportunities in the digital and creative industries.

“The program will be delivered by Data Science Nigeria, which will establish Arewa Tech4Ladies. This initiative is designed to serve four key semi-urban and rural communities in Kaduna State, providing specialist learning, mentoring and women-focused job placement programs.”

In his remarks, Uba Sani, the state governor, said inclusion in tech is not just about social equity; it is a matter of economic progress.

"By equipping our women with digital skills, we not only break down gender barriers, but we also pave the way for meaningful economic growth.
