Katsina ex-SSG abandons APC for PDP

Former Secretary of State Government (SSG), Katsina, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Inuwa's defection came after he fell out with the ruling APC and the state government, over his failure to win the party's gubernatorial ticket in the recent primary poll.

The Guardian has learned that an unwritten deal has been reached for Inuwa to become the party's flag bearer. But the former boss of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Dr. Dikko Radda won the ticket, while Inuwa came second.

After his loss, the former SSG began fraternizing with members of opposition parties, leading to speculation that he would get rid of the APC.

Speaking to his supporters at his campaign office yesterday, Inuwa said his decision to quit the APC followed pressure from his supporters to join another political party.

According to him, the APC has not been fair to him, especially after the result of the governor's primary, even though he said he still had problems with some key members of the ruling party .

Immediately after his defection, former GSU supporters stormed the compound of his campaign office and began tearing down APC posters that adorned the walls. They also chanted pro-PDP slogans, promising to support the PDP and ensure it wins a majority of votes in the next general election.
