Katsina: PDP clarifies candidate guber's withdrawal from race

Katsina State's People's Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected insinuations that its gubernatorial candidate, Sen Yakubu Lado-Danmarke, has withdrawn from the race.

Alhaji Kabir Yusuf-Yar'adu, the chairman of the PDP's campaign media committee, revealed this in a statement Wednesday in Katsina.

"The attention of the PDP Campaign Council in Katsina State has been drawn to a bogus press statement circulating that the party's gubernatorial candidate has withdrawn his candidacy.

"PDP wishes to state that the press release is false and untrue. The candidate's campaign manager, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa has never endorsed any letter bearing PDP letterhead.

"The Campaign Council has its own letterhead newspaper on which it publishes press releases. Similarly, the PDP Campaign Council wishes to advise people in the state to disregard the bogus press release release.

“The bogus press release was a clear desperation of the ruling party, APC, to discredit the PDP gubernatorial candidate who is gaining popularity with the electorate every day,” Yusuf said.< /p>

"I want to state that the PDP gubernatorial candidate is very much in the running.

"Tonight alone he has had hundreds of Labor loyalists intent on supporting him, another indication that he is all in the game," he added.

He pointed out that the PDP gubernatorial candidate also received academic and non-academic staff from tertiary institutions in Katsina State who pledged to support his candidacy.

The PDP campaign council urged the people of the state to disregard the press release.
