Kebbi Customs generates revenue of N127.83 million in November

The Kebbi State Command of the Nigerian Customs Service, in its determined efforts to bring smuggling activities to a bare minimum, had seized second-hand clothes worth N46 million and generated N127 .83 million naira in revenue as of November 2022.

Giving a breakdown of the command's achievements during the month under review, Attah said the command generated a sum of N127.83 as revenue mainly from importing goods into the country through the border of Kamba in the State.

Regarding the fight against contraband, he said that as the patrol intensified in Kebbi State, the command seized assorted contraband items consisting of 303 bullets and 94 bags of second-hand clothes, one unit of second-hand MBW vehicle, 2,375 liters of PMS loaded in jerry cans and 58 bags of foreign parboiled rice of 50KG each; among others with a duty paid value of N46.77 million.

While condemning the increase in smuggling of second-hand clothes, Attah assured that his officers were always ready to scuttle the activities of smugglers as the command was well equipped with all the necessary logistics to strike at any time.

"For the avoidance of doubt, second-hand clothing falls under Annex 4 of the Common External Tariff (TEC) 2022-2026, the import of which is absolutely prohibited for sanitary reasons. Its smuggling violates Article 46 of the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) CAP C. 45 LFN, 2004 (as amended),” the statement read.

The area controller has therefore called on all people of good will to support Kebbi Custom Command by providing useful information for better service delivery.
