Kwara: Air Force, agencies to attack hideouts of criminals

The Nigerian Air Force Medium Airlift Group 303 at Ilorin on Saturday launched a joint operation with other sister security agencies to fumigate and eliminate any criminal gangs along the Eyekorin area -Peke-Okolowo in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

The operation is codenamed “Exercise Apejopo Idi” (meaning Gathering of Eagles) and will run from Saturday to the end of December for maximum impact.

“Exercise Apejopo Idi, which is scheduled for December 16-31, 2022, aims to use NAF ground and air assets to comb through bushes and vulnerable communities in the Eyenkorin-Peke region. -Okolowo."

A statement from the 303 Medium Airlift Group commander, Air Commodore Ibrahim-Garba Jibia, said: "The operation will also involve the 22nd Brigade, State Services Department, Police, local vigilante groups and hunters to get rid of bad eggs and any potential kidnapper hideouts along this area."

The operation will involve a major troop movement. This is part of the combined military and state government efforts to reassure security along the general Eyekorin-Peke-Okolowo area.

Gibia called on all peace-loving citizens in the region not to be afraid but to go about their normal business during this time.
