La Liga: Umar Sadiq scores on his debut with Real Sociedad

Nigerian Umar Sadiq has taken the lead at his new club Real Sociedad following his transfer from Almeria on deadline day.

Umar had a memorable debut for the Blue and Whites on Saturday, his well conceded goal helping Real Sociedad come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid in their La Liga encounter.

Sociedad brought in Umar as a replacement for Alexander Isak and he showed a glimpse of what he could do when he equalized nine minutes into his debut.

It was the visitors who drew the blood in Saturday's entertaining La Liga clash just five minutes into the game.

Alvaro Morata continued his strong start to the season with another goal for Diego Simeone's side.

The Spaniard was on hand to hit the rebound after Yannick Carrasco hit the near post directly from a corner.

Real Sociedad staged an instant response, but they weren't so lucky; hit the woodwork the same way as their opponents.

Although Atletico Madrid maintained their slim lead, that was not the case as Umar's arrival was a game-changer in the second half.

Within minutes of arriving, Umar encountered Momo Cho's hanging cross to wave to a leveler, which had an instant impact on his new club.

The Nigerian striker thought he had scored the winning goal for Sociedad 13 minutes from time, but the referee rightly ruled it offside.

While Umar's injection tipped the momentum in Real Sociedad's favour, Simeone's men held onto a point as the two sides remain level on seven points from four La Liga games.< /p>

With Saturday's goal, Umar has now scored three goals in three consecutive La Liga games this season.
