Lanvin Teams Up To Speak Out On A Ribbon-Themed Holiday Collection

SHANGHAI — After making headlines as the first Chinese luxury group to break into listed on Wall Street, Lanvin Group' Lanvin's flagship brand unveiled a capsule collection with Pronounce, a Chinese fashion brand established seven years ago and designed by Yushan Li and Jun Zhou.

Speaking exclusively with WWD, Li said the collaboration stemmed from an exploration of classic ribbon design of the brand.< /p>

"We started working on the collection during the Shanghai lockdown," Li said. We looked at many archival pieces designed by Jeanne Lanvin and Alber Elbaz and decided to interpret ribbon in a way we excel at, with quickly hand-drawn prints."

The result is a capsule collection of wool sweaters and scarves filled with hand-drawn hearts hand transformed into Prononce's signature infinity loop pattern resembling bunny ears, just in time for the Year of the Rabbit in 2023.

"We wanted the drawing style to be a bit artistic, a bit Parisian. It's also a little tribute to Alber Elbaz, a designer I admire,” Li added.

The collection arrived Thursday at Lanvin boutiques around the world. The capsule collection campaign will feature reality TV stars Caelan Moriarty, Chinese hip-hop star Lil Ghost and drummer of popular Chinese rock band Mandarin, An Yu.

Li said the capsule collection was also an opportunity to share Pronounce's production with the Lanvin product team in China.

“They were very curious about our mesh treatments and exploring the technical side of things. It's a technique we've developed over the years, which includes extensive post-processing that gives the garment a layered texture and a technique featured in our flagship product,” Li said.
