Plane crashes during race at Reno air show, pilot dies in fireball
A military plane has crashed to Earth in the middle of a race with another plane -- at an air show in Nevada -- taking the life of a pilot and horrifying the crowd.< /p>
The disaster unfolded at the Reno Air Races on Sunday...and you can see the red plane - an Aero L-29 Delfin - rapidly losing altitude as it flew another plane at reaction and ignite on impact.
Washoe County Sheriffs responded to the scene, later confirming that the pilot had died as a result of the crash. As to what caused it, the sheriff's office says an investigation is ongoing.
The Reno Air Racing Association said it was also gathering information, and shortly after the accident suspended the remainder of the event.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are also investigating.
