Laura Woods gives 'incredible' ex-Chelsea boss advice on replacing Antonio Conte at Tottenham - 'a big shout out'

TalkSPORT presenter Laura Woods has suggested ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel replace Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tuchel has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in September. He largely did a positive job at the Blues helping them win the Champions League for the second time.

Conte, meanwhile, has been Tottenham's head coach for around 16 months. He guided them to the top four last season, but they have to fight to repeat that feat this season.

Spurs are currently fourth in the Premier League but they will be overtaken by Liverpool and Newcastle if their rivals make the most of their current games.

The Italian head coach is out of contract this summer and it was reported on Wednesday morning that he was 'increasingly likely' to leave Spurs ahead of next season.

Tottenham are linked with Mauricio Pochettino, but Woods thinks it would be wise to appoint Tuchel instead.

"I just don't know if it's still good to go back," Woods said on talkSPORT.

"Of course we can look at the ones where they went back and it went well - Mourinho going back to Chelsea and that kind of stuff - but I don't know with Mauricio Pochettino if that would be the best move for him.

"Actually, I think Thomas Tuchel would be a big shout out. Managers who come back to the league and have something to prove.

"Seriously, though, I just think that with Thomas Tuchel, in the short time that he came to Chelsea and organized this team - they had already gotten the top four from Frank Lampard, so they had a lot young talents, he made some changes and won the Champions League.

"I don't know, I just think about that kind of personality he has, to come into a team like Spurs, who just seem to be lacking in fun right now and lacking in something .

"Go get the best out of Son, go put a rocket on them. I honestly think it would be a good fit. I could be wrong, but I love Thomas Tuchel, I think he's amazing."

Spurs left the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup prematurely, but they remain in contention in the Champions League.

The London side are down 1-0 on aggregate ahead of Wednesday night's Champions League Round of 16 second leg against AC Milan.

Conte is back in the dugout for this match. He disappeared in recent games while returning to Italy to recover from an operation to remove his gallbladder.
