Lewis Hamilton considers taking the iPad in his car during the Italian GP to watch Game of Thrones

Lewis Hamilton has joked about taking his iPad into the cockpit for the Italian Grand Prix as he predicts it will be a boring race for himself. The Briton received a penalty and will start at the back of the grid because he takes too many new engine parts.

The Monza circuit doesn't offer many overtaking opportunities and Hamilton fears the long straights will cause a DRS train where drivers won't be able to pass each other.

"I was behind Valtteri Bottas in training and couldn't catch up or pass him," Hamilton said. "So hopefully I won't be stuck tomorrow (Sunday).

"But I imagine I'll be on a DRS train, and we'll just sit there hoping for chances through strategy and tire degradation from other drivers.

"I was thinking of taking my iPad with me on the run, and when I'm in a DRS line, I'll just watch the new Game of Thrones."

F1 drivers will observe a minute's silence in honor of Queen Elizabeth II before the race and Hamilton has also changed his yellow 44 on the side of his car to black.

"It was an unusual experience and I didn't know how I would feel," Hamilton said as he reflected on the Queen's death," Hamilton explained.

"We all grew up with the royal family, watching her closely, and I remember as a child I adored Princess Diana and (her death) affected me a lot.

"We won't have a queen in our lifetime and what does that mean now for the monarchy?

"I hope the future is bright and that the royal family and the government can bring about many positive changes."

Hamilton was fifth fastest in qualifying on Saturday, but was unhappy with his performance.

"It was a good session, not my best," Hamilton told Sky Sports. "Today we were behind but fifth was the best I could do and I lost two tenths in the last sector. As a competitor I feel like I have to sort that out.

"I expected a difference in pace because of what we saw at Spa. When we go to a circuit like Budapest where there is maximum downforce, we are in a much better place. It's going to be tough tomorrow because the DRS won't make a huge difference. It could be a frustrating day, but we'll do our best."
