Lost papers, singing chefs and a not-so-little mermaid – take Thursday's quiz

Welcome back to the Thursday quiz, accurately described in comments last week by someone called "fishworld" as a test of "knowing things about things". Unfortunately, while some of the stuff is topical news that you will have seen on the Guardian's website, some of the stuff is completely obscure and entirely at the mercy of a wayward nerdy quiz master. There are bonus points available in the comments if you can spot oblique Doctor Who references, but beware, you can lose points for unnecessary quibbling. And this week, we're going to try to keep comments open a bit longer, because due to so-called "time zones", there are people for whom it's basically quiz Friday. Be nice to each other and have fun!
