Luis Enrique 'optimistic' about Spain as La Roja seek to win Nations League group

Luis Enrique is 'optimistic about what lies ahead' as Spain gear up to bid to win Group A2 of the Nations League.

La Roja host Switzerland on Saturday, knowing that a victory will secure them first place should Portugal lose to the Czech Republic.

If they don't seal this weekend, Spain will have a second chance to do so when they face Portugal in their final Nations League group game on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Luis Enrique was energized by what he had seen in his side's training, including the first call-ups of Borja Iglesias and Nico Williams.

"It was the best week of training for the players since I became a coach," he said. "Even Borja and Nico, who are making their debut.

“I am optimistic about what lies ahead. A brutal week, even those who play little have the level to compete.”
