A 25-year-old man was arrested by Bauchi State Police for allegedly killing a five-year-old child he kidnapped.

Wakil, a police superintendent, said the suspect stabbed the boy to death after realizing he recognized him.

He said state police commissioner Umar Sanda ordered the suspect to be brought to court for prosecution.

"The command arrested 25-year-old Anas Auwal 'm' from Tsangaya village in Ningi local government area of ​​Bauchi state for kidnapping and gruesome murder of the five-year-old boy Abba Yahuza 'm' from the same address.

"The preliminary investigation revealed that on October 11, 2022 at around 2 p.m., the suspect lured the victim into his room with candy. Later, he called the victim's father on the phone and threatened to bring the sum of five million naira (N5,000,000.00) as a ransom, but the father told him that he could not. not meet the requested amount.

"The suspect later realized that the victim knew him and that his identity would be revealed if he released him.

"As a result, the suspect decided to chop the victim to death in his bedroom and waited until nightfall, wrapped the victim in a bag and buried the body in a low grave. deep.

"The suspect confessed to the crime as Police Commissioner CP Umar Mamman Sanda ordered the suspect to be brought to court for prosecution.

"In a similar vein, CP has advised parents and guardians to be vigilant and cautious about the whereabouts of their children," he advised .

Similarly, the police spokesperson said that two suspects were also arrested for allegedly kidnapping a certain Samaila Gidado, a resident of Gayar Mukal, Duguri district, Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi State and collecting a ransom of 3.1 million naira.

He said the suspects were arrested after being shot in a shootout with police in their hideout, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Wakil said, "On October 25, 2022, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Abubakar Yakubu (20) alias Dogo and Abdullahi Adamu (40), all men from Quanpan, LGA, State du Plateau, criminally conspired with others, now at large, while armed with AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons, stormed the house of Samaila Gidado, male, from Gayar district mukal Duguri Alkaleri LGA Bauchi State.

"They kidnapped him to an unknown destination and demanded and collected N3,190,000 as a ransom before his release.

"During the investigation, the detective team was tasked with tracking down and arresting the suspects. During the investigation, a tip was received from a reliable source that they were seen in a bush.

"A tactical team was quickly assembled and surrounded the area and engaged them in a gun duel. Thanks to our superior firepower, two of the suspects were injured and arrested with success while others escaped with gunshot wounds; every effort was made to arrest the remaining gang members."
