Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag provides exciting investment update as Glazers look to sell

Erik ten Hag has been promised a major investment in his ongoing plan to put Manchester United back on top should the current owners be sold. Last month United's Florida-based Glazer family signaled their willingness to take their money and run after 17 years at Old Trafford.

Having bought the club for £790million in 2003, they are ready to cash in on an investment they believe could net them almost £8billion.

After discussing the possible implications of new ownership with Managing Director Richard Arnold, Ten Hag was told there would be "no negatives" to any sale, whether partial or blocked, stock and barrel.

"My information is that it will only be good things because there will be more possible investments, which is good," said Ten Hag.

"I haven't spoken with the owners about this issue but Richard told me about it and we talked about the culture we want, we talked about the objectives, the goals and that culture.

>

“He confirmed that this will not change. In fact, it will be even better because more money will be available for this project.”

The Glazer family have not been shy about putting their hands in the transfer market, although fan groups would point out that the money for the signings has been generated by income rather than new investments .

And with the Glazers valuing the club as much as they do, there's no doubt that potential buyers won't get the club on the cheap. Ten Hag believes further investment is needed to help the club compete with the ever richer pockets of the Premier League.

"I look at the competition around the Premier League, they all have the opportunity to invest, it's a tough competition between seven or eight clubs," he said. "It's a change of circumstances compared to five or ten years ago, so the competition is much tougher."

United are linked with a host of stars in the January transfer window, with names like Dutch international Cody Gakpo and Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix among the names mentioned.

Exactly when the Glazers will complete a sale remains to be seen, but United fans are desperate for it to be sooner rather than later so the club can be optimistic about the future.
