Man Utd eye shock for untouchable Leeds man after 'catching the eye' of Erik ten Hag

Manchester United are interested in signing United States captain Tyler Adams from arch-rivals Leeds United, according to TEAMtalk.

Writing for TEAMtalk, transfer journalist Graeme Bailey says Leeds have no intention of letting the USA midfielder leave this winter.

There is interest from Serie A duo Inter Milan and Fiorentina, as well as Manchester United, claims Bailey.

Adams joined Los Blancos from RB Leipzig last summer and has been very impressive since arriving in West Yorkshire.

Signed for just £17m, potentially up to £20m, Adams captained the United States to the World Cup, where they were knocked out by the Netherlands in the Round of 16 .

The 23-year-old has fitted very well into Jesse Marsch's system and has made 13 Premier League appearances this season, missing just one top-flight game so far.

It's no surprise to see clubs considering a move for the former Leipzig midfielder, with many likely blaming themselves for letting him move out this summer for such a small fee.

United were linked with former Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips ahead of his summer move to Manchester City.

Adams has been signed to replace Phillips and tickles the imagination of Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag.

Phillips was never going to swap his boyhood club for Old Trafford due to the rivalry between the two sides, while Adams probably wouldn't have that dilemma on his mind if United called.

Bailey adds that Adams' performance in the Premier League has "catch the attention of Erik ten Hag".

However, it should be noted that Ten Hag is no longer prioritizing the signing of a new midfielder following Casemiro's summer arrival.

A TEAMtalk report earlier this month said Adams would "evaluate his options at the end of the season".

"From what I've been told, he's going to see the season and probably see what lands after this point," said reporter Dean Jones.

Bailey says Adams feels at home at Elland Road and reiterates that Leeds have no desire to let him go next month.

He said: "I know Leeds fans are worried about the future of Tyler Adams and that he could be sold in January, but that's certainly not in the club's hierarchy's plans. .

"Adams has become a key part of Jesse Marsch's squad since joining in the summer. And despite his outstanding performance in the World Cup final, he won't be going.

"The player is also very happy at Elland Road and from what I have been told he is determined to prove himself in the Premier League with Leeds," added Bailey.
