Marketers warn of possible gas price hike

Oil marketers issued a stark warning to the public on Thursday, asking them to expect to buy gasoline at "any price".

Marketers, under the aegis of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, told The PUNCH that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited refuses to donate products to its members and that they were buying at N205 from third parties.< /p>

National Operations Controller, IPMAN, Mike Osatuyi told The PUNCH that association members have purchased products for N205 and will add N13 transportation to the cost.

"NNPC refuses to give us fuel. We buy from third parties and can sell at any price because if the cost of landing at our stations is 218 naira per litre, how much do you think Are you sure we'll sell? So the public should expect fuel at any price, depending on the region,” he said.

NNPCL spokesperson Garba Deen Mohammed could not be reached for his reaction.

Spokesman for the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, Clement Isong, told The PUNCH on Wednesday that the association had held a logistics meeting with the NNPC.
